China National Conference of UV Detecting Technology In Transmission Lines
The seminar conclueded successfuly With more than 60 attendees and 20 companies, some of which practice already UV inspection with DayCor® systems. Users presented their research and papers about UV technology.
Attendees have commended the light weight of the DayCor®Superb and the integrated video system. DayCor®'s high sensitivity was of major interest as providing reliable resutls in cases where corona discharge can hardly be detected. Most attendees asked for field demonstration and expressed their interest in acquiring this technology.
More about the seminar:
Detecting corona with UV is a relatively new technology. Some countries are using already UV detecting technology for checking defects and faults in transmission lines. In China prominent research institutes have carried out research on the application of this technology with impressive results.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss and study automatic detecting options, and new applications of the UV technology in transmission lines. The National Conference titled “UV Detecting Technology in Transmission Lines” was handled by the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering Transmission Committee Functional Group.
The technical paper presented in this conference included:
-
UV inspection research discussing the influence of detecting distance, atmospheric humidity, temperature and pressure
- Testing results such as pictures and video data of transmission lines (substation lines/hardware/insulating material)
- Effectiveness of UV detecting - assessment, vision, conclusions and recommendations
- UV technology experience in China and overseas
- Ofil's innovative UV instrumentation
Participant visited the Wuhan Ultra-high Voltage Laboratory.
